The Lucas Limiting Amplifier is one of the few compressors made that uses the actual vacuum tube as the 'voltage-controlled amplifier.' No optical devices! No VCA's! This is the REAL tube sound! Each limited edition unit is carefully hand constructed to order of the highest grade components, including a proprietary custom designed and hand wound output transformer.. The Lucas Limiting Amplifier is in daily use by professionals at the highest levels. The reason is the sound!

The Lucas Limiting Amplifier utilises the 6BQ7 valve as the volume controlling element. Other valves which may be used include the 6BC8 or the 6DJ8/6922, but of course the unit must be rebalanced if any valve other than the original that comes in the unit is inserted. We have used many of our own units in the studio almost daily for up to fifteen years with the original tubes
